Personality
Jack is hotheaded and sharp-tongued. He's the type whose mouth always works faster than his brain, and so he tends to blurt out or speak whatever's on his mind without tempering it, which can get him into trouble and make him come off as rude, harsh, or just plain mean. He doesn't care about this view of him for the most part, either, because people and Pokemon alike are wary of his kind, so he figures if they're going to treat him like some kind of disaster-bringing, heartless beast, then fuck them and fuck being nice to them.
Of course, that doesn't mean Jack enjoys being nasty to others, because he really doesn't. He admits he gets some dark satisfaction out of being horrible to someone being horrible to him first, but given the choice, he'd pass up those sorts of interactions completely. He might be hard-headed and blunt, but he's not thoughtless; Jack is a genuinely kind and sweet Pokemon who hates to see others hurt and despises seeing others die, which is why keeps trying to warn people even knowing he's most likely going to be ignored and treated poorly in return.
While defensive and closed off around new people, when he's with friends, he relaxes significantly, becoming gentle, friendly, and outright sweet. He's also like this with young children, regardless of species, and doesn't take any of their fears or poor treatments personally, nor does he respond back nastily to them. He thinks, with little ones, they just really don't know better, and he can't blame them for being taught bad things.
Jack, while used to solitude, honestly prefers being around others when given the choice. He's said before that he thinks that, if there had been a human that was kind to him, he would've really loved being a trainer's Pokemon... though he never would've stayed in the Poke Ball. That's just not the type of thing he's comfortable inside, and he'd rather wander the world at their side.

History
Jack was mostly by himself, wandering the world and trying to help out, before he met Joker and Ace. When they did meet, they became fast friends, and Jack discarded his old name (which he will never speak of) in favor of "Jack", matching Joker's and Ace's own names. Together, all three of them became an Exploration Team named "Shuffle", reflecting their card names.
